A new, genuine Canadian family restaurant called Phat Boy Cheesesteaks has been born in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Cheesesteaks, Burgers, Fries, and Poutine are all included on the restaurant’s menu.
Phat Boy Cheesesteaks will provide immediate delivery, quick take-out, and a sit-down dining experience.
The restaurant can serve individuals, families across income ranges, and businesses in need of catering thanks to our wide range of menu options and delivery services. Najib (Jim) and Salah (Sal) Malas are the brains behind Phat Boy Cheesesteaks.
With passion and practical restaurant management experience, Jim has ten years of experience in the restaurant business, having worked at Moxie’s Classic Grill, A1 king donair, and most recently as the sole chef and owner of Captain Shawarma.
The father and son duo will advertise the new eatery through their extensive network and relationships.
In addition to his nine years of expertise in entrepreneurship and company management, Jim Malas has more than ten years of experience in the restaurant industry. After working as a Line Cook for A1 King Donair from January 1999 to September 2000 and Moxie’s Classic Grill from September 2000 to July 2008, Mr. Malas went on to manage Domino Pizza from October 2008 to February 2011. More specifically, he has picked up useful techniques for cooking a range of foods that will be the standouts of the Phat Boy Cheesesteaks menu. To learn about their meat marinade recipes, he personally connected with numerous chefs, particularly Chef Doug Herbert, who was Mr. Malas’s Manager 20 years ago.
And finally, after several weeks spent strategizing, coming up with ideas, and combining various recipes, Jim and Sal Malas made the decision to act and establish their dream business, Phat Boy cheesesteaks. They contacted Mr. Herbert and agreed to have him oversee the execution of their plan which is to bring the most authentic and best tasting cheesesteak to the city of Sherwood Park.
Sal Malas, who successfully completed his degree in aerospace engineering and plans to pursue a career as a pilot in summer 2023, will use his love of food and his culinary expertise to fly Phat Boy Cheesesteaks across Canada.
On June 1st of 2023, Phat Boy Cheesesteaks will launch the rocket from Sherwood Park, Alberta’s sixth-largest city.
